Misappropriation of European Union funds in the Wrocław area in Poland

Dear European Commission,

Please investigate the distribution of the EU funds in the Wrocław area in Poland. The local press and Internet users described the pathological decisions made by the local officials. Charges of nepotism are common. Unfortunately, the Civic Platform (Platforma Obywatelska), the current ruling party in Poland (together with PSL, with a smaller share of votes but also famous for its nepotism) is not interested in cleaning up this mess.

Take Joanna Naliwajko who was active in awarding a large grant to her boyfriend. Naliwajko's sister is married to Marek Obrębalski, the president of Jelenia Gora and a member of the Civic Platform.

Take Piotr Borys, Deputy Governor of the Wroclaw region (województwo dolnośląskie) from the Civic Platform. His wife, Marzena Krauz-Borys, is the Treasurer of Civis Europae, a fundation from Lubin, which received the grant in excess of 5 mln PLN. The director of the fundation, Barbara Skórzewska is also a member of the Civic Platform.

The political party links are being used as the main criteria in awarding European grants. The European Union funds are appropriated improperly. Large amounts of money are being wasted.
